Dear Parishioners,
I want to extend my thanks to all our volunteers who worked hard to get everything together for the Triduum and Easter. Our church decorators, choir members and ministers did an amazing job so we could have a beautiful Holy Week. Our staff members, music directors and choir directors worked very hard as well. I very much appreciate the time and work everyone put into our Triduum and Easter celebrations.
I certainly realize that this was quite the change from the Holy Weeks of the past. Some people were pretty upset with various changes. Please understand that things will not go back to the way things were before the Road to Renewal started. The circumstances the diocese finds itself in prevent that. Most dioceses here in the United States are going through or have gone through a similar process. I’ve met many people who were in downtown Niagara Falls for their vacations who have spoken to me about it. It was a difficult journey for them but they made it through. Hopefully, the Renewal will provide what we need here in the Diocese of Buffalo.
Also, please keep those who were welcomed into the church on the Easter Vigil at Divine Mercy in prayer. Our new Catholic brothers and sisters dedicated so much time and study to learn about our faith. They joyfully became Catholic. Continue to lift them up in the coming weeks and months as they grow in their faith. Thanks to their instructors as well.
Finally, just a reminder that Fr Stew is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a priest. Keep him in your prayers. His celebration is coming up in a few short weeks on the 21st of April.Christ’s Peace,
Fr Jim Kirkpatrick
